Grouping is an effective way to help learners collaborate. Project Based Learning gives learners a reason to collaborate. One of the main reasons groups often go poorly is due to lack of structure. Groups take time and effort on our part. If putting learners together created positive collaboration, then the lunch room would be a think tank! With structures like group contracts, roles, and group mediations, groups can be a great asset to the PBL classroom. Putting work into groups at the beginning of the year will yield benefits throughout the year.
